Starting off in Bangalore, we tour southwards on a route that keeps us close to the South Indian heartland with its beautiful landscapes, quaint villages, paddy plantations, coconut groves, and pristine beaches. Along the way, we visit some of South India’s best tourist attractions, including a 14th-century palace, a 10th-century temple, and an ancient church . Even though there are many other means of travel, Cycling is a better way to explore the cities. It’s a fun adventure activity and it gets you closer to countryside. Just travel peacefully through the scenic routes of South India. Cycle trip from Bangalore to Cochin will be an unforgettable experience for you! The roads, farm lands, villages, sunrise, sunsets and the nights, every city will give you a different experience.

 

This cycling adventure through southwest India will take you from abundant forests to spice plantations, from sophisticated temples to beaches and backwater canals. The region's jungles and waterways, colorful towns and fishing villages, beaches and delicious cuisine will all be explored as you pedal the rural roads of Karnataka and Kerala.

Upon arrival at Bangalore International Airport, after clear immigration our representative will meet you.
Meeting / assistance upon arrival, and Welcome with garlanding at the airport, and later transfer to hotel.

Bangalore is the third largest city of the country, Bangalore was famous as the Garden city. The city has attracted the Information Technology Business and has thus become the Silicon Valley of India. The city is brimming with attractions, you will have a good time visiting Bangalore and experiencing the charm of the place.

Afternoon visit Bangalore City: Visit The Lalbagh, the botanical garden spread over 240 acres and having a wide variety of exotic trees and plants. Visit Tipu Sultan’s Palace – dating back to 1790 and made mostly out of wood, it was used as the summer residence of the legendary ruler Tipu Sultan. Continue to visit the Bull temple believed to have been constructed in the 16th-century it has been carved out of a single granite block. The tour gives you an opportunity to drive past the Government Secretariat, VidhanSoudha (Legislature building).

Relax in the city for the evening, and get ready for your two-week bicycling adventure!

Today, morning drive to Mysore (with cycles), en-route Cycle Ridding for approx. 30 Km. Upon arrival, Check-in at hotel.
 

On the way stop at Srirangapatna, towards the ruins of Great Emperor Tipu Sultan’s capital. It was largely destroyed by British forces in 1799, and the ruins stand on an island in the middle of the Cauvery River. Once over the bridge, you can cycle around the old ramparts to visit Colonel Bailey's Dungeon and Ranganatha Swamy Temple. Also on the island is the impressive Jama Masjid mosque, and Dariya Daulat Bagh, which was once Tipu Sultan’s summer palace.

Morning sightseeing of famous Mysore Palace with its durbar hall, golden royal elephant throne and the Jayachamarajendra art gallery. We also visit the Chamundi Hills where we can see two ancient temples and get a panoramic view of the city. Mysore is an ancient city with more than 600 glorious years of legacy. Known for its glittering royal heritage, bustling markets, magnificent monuments, cosmopolitan culture and a friendly populace, it is also a thriving centre for the production of premium silk, sandalwood and incense.

In the afternoon Cycling ride to visit Somnathpur Temple -A place famous for temples is rich in Hoysala architecture. Which has archaeological importance and has a lot of temples. The scenic beauty of this place will take your heart away and will allow you to create a lot of memories, and back by car to mysore

Today we make the journey to two famous wildlife sanctuaries in South India – Bandipur and Mudumalai, en-route we will do cycle ridding for about 30 Km through Nilgiri.
 

Bandipur & Mudumalai National Park, conserving the endangered Tiger habitat you also get to see endemics like the Malabar Giant Squirrel, Malabar Parakeet, Malabar Lark and Grey-headed Bulbul. Upon arrival, Check-in at Hotel / Resorts.


Here we may also avail jeep safari deep into the midst of this dry deciduous forest.

Today, proceed by  cycles through the mountain roads toward the colonial town of Ooty nestled up in the Nigiris (literally Blue Mountains). Many ‘hair pin bends’ later you find yourself greeted with pleasantly cool weather at your destination situated at just over 2,200 metres. Here one finds charming English style cottages blending into the landscape. Upon arrival, Check-in at Hotel / Resorts.


Later sightseeing of Ooty, covering excellent botanical garden at Ooty which is over 160 years old is home to not only a great variety of exotic flora but also many endemic birds.

This morning we board the historic Toy Train for a remarkable rail journey with spectacular vistas as we descend to the popular hill station of Coonoor.
Toy Train, the breath taking Nilgiri Mountain Railway, Tamil Nadu built during the British Rule in 1908. The railway still relies on its fleet of steam locomotives and is a UNESCCO World Heritage Site.
From Coonoor we take a scenic Cycle Ride for about 35 Kms to Mettupalayam – a small Indian town located at the foothills of the Nilgiris OR more.
Later we drive by road to a fascinating area near the town of Pollachhi. Upon arrival, Check-in at hotel.


In the evening we may take a walk tour through the farm & the nearby villages.

Today, travel by road  to Munnar, En-route today one of the longer cycling days (for about 40 Kms cycle ridding), we hop on our cycles and head towards the tea town of Munnar, en-route we pass by the dry scrub land forests at Chinnar and the sandalwood forests at Marayur before the climb begins to Munnar. The mountain scenery we pass today is spectacular with plenty of time to stop and take in the views. Upon arrival, Check-in at hotel.


Rest of the evening at leisure, one can explore the hotel and surroundings.

Today is a day of Cycling on one of the best roads in Kerala (about 45 Kms ride), and trekking also into the Silent Valley, trekking to Meesapulimala, ‘The Mountain of the Whiskered Tiger’. This is a spectacular walk, passing through sholas (high altitude mountain rain forest, also known as cloud forests), rolling grasslands, and rhododendrons. We travel across mountain streams through spectacular valleys. Sightings of elephants, gaur (large dark-coated bison), NilgiriTahr (ibex) are highly likely.

Morning proceeds from Munnar to Periyar, the Cardamom Hills are famed all over the globe as the spice centre of the world.

Today we will do Cycling Ride (for about 40 Kms) through the shadow of these hills, and also we ride around Anaerangal Lake (‘Lake where the elephants come down’) and along wonderful mountain roads to Nedungandom, where we can stop for Lunch.


We pass through thick forests, cardamom estates, and spice gardens that have given these Cardamom Hills their name.


Periyar is one of the best wildlife reserves in India and has large herds of Asiatic elephants, Indian bison as well as tigers. For ornithologists it has over 330 species of birds including the majestic Great Hornbill. Upon arrival, Check-in at hotel.

Today morning we venture into the national park. Mannans are among the oldest indigenous group of people to inhabit Periyar. As late as the 1940’s, they lived in the remotest areas of the reserve seeking out a simple life, fishing in the lake and cultivating a few crops, today they are the main conservators of the forest. They will escort us through the forest and help you discover the remarkable flora and fauna of the region, there is also the opportunity to do bamboo rafting.


In the evening one can have Boat Ride on Lake Periyar, to see the jungles.

OPTIONAL: One can do nature walk through jungles early in the morning.
 

Morning we will do cycling ride (for about 35 Kms) to downhill part of the way and head to Kuttikanam – a picturesque little town. Our ride takes us through winding roads running through scores of spice farms and rubber plantations. Our destination today is an exceptionally beautiful farm on the banks of the lower ranges of the Western Ghats. Upon arrival, Check-in at hotel.


Later you  can explore the spice and herb gardens, visit the rubber plantations, walk through the forests and also we may visit the local village and their daily life.

After early breakfast, Morning start cycling for about 35 Kms, and later drive to Alleppey, where we will commence our kayaking through the famed backwaters.


Upon arrival, board the House Boat at about 1230 hrs and Lunch will be served on the House Boats.
Rest of the day, sit back and relax while the boat cruises through the narrow serene backwater canals of Alleppey and seen in breathing green, the village slumbers by the Vembanadu Lake. On cruise scenery flashes up vivid contrasts of lush green and deep blues. Also can hear the twinkle of a shining star or diving of fish around you to say hello by waving its tail from the lake.

Breakfast on the House Boat and you’re out onto beautiful stretches of acreage, and set to learn some Coir (coconut fiber) making from a local outfit, the traditional way. The cycling will be on narrow routes through numerous villages and temples we head to Mararikulam, a fishing village on the Mararikulam Beach.

Today you leave the beach and head towards Cochin, surrounded by Arabian Sea. Riding through the coastal roads will be an amazing experience for you. Continue riding through the busy will take us to the heritage town of Fort Kochi. sweaty ride as we’re almost beginning to feel the end of the Spice Trail Tour in Kerala, continue ride to Cochin, Fort Kochi with a fabulous beach side ride.

For a leisurely morning in Fort Kochi, consider taking a stroll OR ride around, and sightseeing of Cochin, including Fort Cochin, The Dutch Palace at Mattancherry is renowned for its wall murals depicting scenes from the Ramayana. The Jewish Synagogue at the heart of what is locally called the Jew Town. The St. Francis Church, the oldest European church in India. The Santa Cruz Basilica, originally built in 1557 by the Portuguese. The Chinese fishing nets cantilevered fishing nets, and walk OR ride through the local market. (Jewish Synagogue closed on Fridays & Saturdays – Dutch Palace closed on Fridays)

Evening proceed to a local theater in Ernakulam to witness Kathakali Dance performance. Fort Kochi, India’s Oldest Indo – European town. We will discover a little more off the rich cultural history of this place during our visits to museums and temples that dot the city and surrounding areas.

Kathkali: A special treat awaits us this evening as we proceed. The extremely stylized gestures, the elaborate make-up, the masks and the splendid costumes of these all-male dancers, recreate an incomparable sense of pageantry.


Late evening transfer to Cochin International Airport to board flight to native place.
